Problems getting it to work

Post by hanslammerts » Thu Aug 29, 2013 8:51 pm

Hi,

Let me be the first to post here.
I would like to get 123solar working very much, but I seem to have some little issues.
I'm using CentOS 6.4, PHP 5.3.3 and a Bluetooth SMA inverter.
Followed the instructions given for both solar123 and the configuration for the Bluetooth extension to the letter, but no picture yet...
At first I was unable to get my changes saved in the config_main.php file. It turns out that if you use an apostrophe (') in your plant's name for instance, this will cause the admin script to not save the changes because there will be three apostrophes where only two are allowed (This variable will be malformed :
$TITLE='HL's PV plant';, so I changed it to $TITLE='PV plant van HL';)
Fixed that, and now I'm able to save my changes.

Before going into the configuration instructions for SAM Bluetooth, I would like to get an answer to this question first:
After having started 123solar, and visiting the homepage I notice that the date information in the top center of the page is incorrect.
It always shows 01/01/1970 (0,0 kWh), and below that
Sunrise 08:40 - Transit 12:40 - Sunset 16:37

Is this an error (nothing shows up in the http error_log), or will these values change to the correct ones when I get the rest to work ?

Keep up the good work !

Hans

Hi Hans,

Welcome to this new forum :D
Yes, some characters in the configuration might be badly interpreted by 123s. You may check if the loaded values in memory are correct with http://pathtoyourlogger/scripts/debugmem_read.php.

If the date (in the first index graph) show 01/01/1970, it mean than no value have been saved yet the daily csv file.
That simply mean that 123s never been started to record anything ;)

Have fun

Hi Jeanmarc,

Thank you for the swift answer.
I understand.
I'll try to get the connection to the inverter working using the BT extension. First attempts are unsuccessful, but I'll look into this again when I have some more time.

Will be back !

Ok,

I'm back.
When reading and trying to implement Alain's quick install, I run into some things that are unclear.

1) At D.1 Alain talks about renaming SMAspot.cfg to SMAspot_<id>.cfg where I guess <id> is a number between 0 and 9, right ?
2) in the same paragraph it is said that id is the SMA inverter you will assign in E.2. I'm guessing E.2 refers to paragraph E.2, but this one isn't present. Should this be D.2 ?
3) In paragraph D.2 it is said to select SMA inverter 'n'. Since I have only one inverter, I guess this 'n' should be 0, or 1 or the value I gave to <id> ?
4) In the same paragraph it is said to assign a SMA inverter [0-9]. I'm guessing this refers to the id number in paragraph D.1 ? And where do I do this assignment in the webpage ?

Hope you or Alain can help me out.

Thank you.

Hi,

1) Yes right
2) Yes it's D2
3) The first inverter is invt1 for 123solar. It may not match the adress number you've set for your SMA-BT.
4) It refer now to the adress in the protocol section of the 123s admin (SMA inverter Num. 0-9)

Hope it's help

Hi jeanmarc,

So, if I interpret this correctly, I should do the following:
(example)

1) create SMAspot_9.cfg in the config directory of 123solar
2) Under protocol, choose SMA-BT
3) Under SMA inverter Num. 0-9, choose my id, in this case 9
4) restart

If I do it like this, nothing happens after the restart.
The only thing I see on the Infos page, in the events box, is the text Connection lost.

When I don't try to be smart, and simply use 1 for my id (SMAspot_1.cfg and 1 for the SMA inverter Num.), still nothing happens, apart from the text connection lost in the events window.

Can I leave the setting /dev/ttyUSB0 alone under protocol/port ?

I must be doing something wrong, but I don't understand what it is.
Do you have any idea what I'm doing wrong, please.

Hi,

Well, it seem ok to me but i don't own a SMA ;) and I belive Alain is overseas now.
Does SMA-spot work alone (step B) ?
You may test the 123s output: don't launch '123solar start' and in your terminal go in scripts, then type 'php worker.php'

Hi,

Yes, SMAspot is working correctly. I'm using it to upload data to PVoutput.org.
Will try php_worker.php tomorrow.

Thanks.

OK,

I tried the php worker.php thingie, and I get strange behavior.

The first couple of times I tried the command, it immediately returned with the following error:

Code: Select all

timeout: unrecognized option '--kill-after=10s'
Try `timeout --help' for more information.
Now, I don't see this error anymore.
When I run php worker.php, nothing happens for about 1 minute, and then the command returns. No errors, and nothing (seemingly) happened.

What should php worker.php have done ?

'php worker.php' is suppose to output nothing except errors. :|
When you launch the worker, you should see live values to update in 123solar/scripts/debugmem_read.php
It might be a good idea to past your debugmem_read config here.

You didn't put any option in 123s admin ? (--kill-after=10s)
What "SMAspot -q -123s" return ?
