123solar questions

Post by jerrymex » Fri Nov 20, 2020 10:54 pm

I had posted sometime back, just realized, I had posted an incorrect link, I wondered why no responses.
For the last several months, I've seen a spike in temperature, an awfully insane number, 4,294,967,296.0 C, I will attach a pic.
I have had tech's out to check the system, they were not the installers, installers have ignored my requests, an initial inspection revealed no obvious issues, other than dirty panels, there was/is a language barrier, they mostly spanish, me mostly english, and I'm awaiting for the boss to speak with.

Is this a common occurrence, or something special to my logging? maybe an arithmetic error?

Thanks for any pointers

123s just show what your com app return. What protocol are you using ?
For example, using aurora i sometimes get a grid frequency of 0Hz

aurora -a 2 -c -T -Y5 -d0 -e /dev/ttyUSB0
I also have periods of zero grid voltage, and sometimes power generated goes to zero.
So, you're saying an unusually high temp, and zero grid voltage is normal?
In looking over data from 20190504, I see the temp spike, 4294967296 and 20190508, I see the temp spike, 4294967296, grid voltage and frequency appear normal.In looking at many from that time frame, this temperature spike does not appear with any regularity, in the last several months, it is a daily occurrence
Thanks.

Getting wrong data either from the com app or you inverter is not normal ;)
You can skip those wrong data by changing scripts/protocols/aurora.php

Code: Select all

..
	if ($FRQ > 0 ||	$INVT > 100 || $BOOT > 100) { // Avoid null values at early startup
		$RET = 'OK';
	} else {
		$RET = 'NOK';
	}
then restart 123s, that won't survive an update though

Ok, thanks for the script change, I'll wait and see what the techs come up with
Forgot, I see I posted in the wrong channel, sorry

Just a follow up, I've placed your suggestion into aurora.php, restarted. So I'll see how it goes.
The techs were out, not really sure what they looked at, they were here for a couple hours, other than washing the panels.
Sent a print out back to the office, showing the drop outs, spoke with the owner for quite awhile and he offered some suggestions.
The raspberry was obtaining power from the same circuit that powers a domestic water pump, the pump powers on, sucks the juice down, the pi looses its connection, somewhat verified, we had a video doorbell installed, the guys were out numerous times, the video or unlocking mechanism would work fine for a couple days, then stop working, they had originally wired into the same circuit as the water pump, rewired into my workshop, and have had no further issues with the doorbell or video.
Now I'm powering the pi via long extension cord and monitoring for lost connections.
Thanks for the pointers.

Yesterday, 123solar started as normal, usually around 7:45-8:00, I start getting solar readings, nothing at 8:30, rebooted the pi, still nothing, went to the inverter, saw an error code E031, an internet search shows that to be a failed relay, this on an ABB inverter, but seems many throw that for the same indication. Appears to be a well known flaw with this inverter, and some had reported failures in a short amount of time after having the unit replaced. This unit was built in July 2014, and is in the time frame for having the issue, it was installed in April 2015, been running fine, except for the issues I have described above, temperature and voltage going to zero, sometimes, many in a day. It would be interesting to know, if the anomalies were an indication of impending failure.
My paperwork says it is warranted for ten years, the technician says five, he is not the installer or work for the company who did install, that's another story. I have a quote coming to install a new inverter, yea, Merry Christmas, just what I wanted.
I may just take down the old, tear it apart and see if I can fix it, planned obsolescence, for a unit designed to reduce consumption, and all that, just seems wrong.
thanks

There seems to be a LARGE ERROR! That HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED
For sometime I have had this monstrous error, its impossible to reach this temperature, 4,294,967,296c, with this unit, let alone some blast furnace.

15:00:05,202.566177,5.795486,1173.969482,203.468826,5.797904,1179.692627,,,,,,,214.685562,10.529204,2254.609375,,,,,,,59.969296,95.79155,4294967296,51.589443,,36788.969

What is causing this.
I have repaired this unit, was showing error 031, relay issues, the solder had melted, and was not making a connection, yet this error persists.

Hi Jerry,
The errors comes either from your inverter which report wrong value or the communication app (aurora). I guess it's the first supposition.
123s don't interpret data, it just render them ;)
