123solar on raspberry connected to aurora zero grid output

Post by tomy333 » Sun May 02, 2021 1:03 pm

Hello,
is it possible with a raspberry on which the 123solar is also used to regulate the produced solar power for zero output to the grid, given that it is already connected to the RS485 on the AURORA inverter?

regards,
Tomy

Hi,
Sorry i'm unsure to understand. You want to limit the energy send to the grid ? Is that possible with your inverter ? I never see a com. app. able to send such limitation commands, you will need some sort of hardware that charge a battery or burn somewhere the surplus.

Hello, jeanmarc
I have two Aurora PVI 3.6 and it is possible to set the output power directly from 100 to 0% ">settings > Pasword >Power Reduction" in the menu or with an external PVI-PMU unit! I was hoping to have this PVI-PMU to regulate the output power so that i have zero grid output, and the RS485 external functionality would be connected to the raspberry. But here I have a problem now because 123solar does not work on the external port PVI-PMU from POWER ONE.
If you have some sugestions, i will try!

I didn't know that. Well, you need to have a linux com. app. to command your PVI-PMU, i'am don't think that exist (does it?).
Also, you need to read a meter on the main supply to see if there is any outgoing power (like an eastron).

If you can have that, a simple script would be able to regulate the power. But it not about 123s ;)

Hello,
I did a test. I connected the PVI-PMU unit to the communication cable from Aurora, and at the PVI-PMU analog input I was able to regulate the output power of the inverters with a signal from 4 to 20 mA.
With the current test, however, I found that I can connect everything together on the RS485 side (raspberry, PVI-PMU, and both aurora inverters) and Power Reduction also works.
Communication works slower and power regulation is also slower but for now it vill be OK.
I will get an analog signal 4 to 20mA from a PLC controller with PID control, which measures consumption and production on Aurora inverters.

Tomy

wow ;) How do you read outgoing power ?

182 / 5000

Hello,
I have 6 DDS238 ModBus RTU meters so I measure the energy produced and consumed.

Communication between raspberry - PVi-PMU - Aurora is not stable, so it will be necessary to upgrade somehow.

Tomy
